Last Thursday at Trinity Laban, Empirical were installed as the 2011-2012 Golubovich Ensemble in Residence at Trinity Laban.

Empirical will do residencies and masterclasses during the academic year. Trinity Laban Principal Professor Anthony Bowne and Head of Jazz Simon Purcell both made speeches of welcome. Before Empirical's performance, a roup of Trinity jazzstudents played some of Mark Lockheart's Ellington re-workings.

Two of the members of Empirical it was a homecoming: vibraphonist Lewis Wright and drummer Shane Forbes are both ex-Trinity students.

Quite a year for Empirical:  Tom Farmer told LondonJazz the story of last year's MOBO Awards win.
