"Destiny. You've dreamed about it. You've longed for it. You've dreaded it. You've run from it. You're so nervous that the butterflies in your stomach have become vultures, and you can feel their claws all the way to your toes. Your life is about to change . . . one way or the other. It could be your best day or your worst, but it cannot be a normal day. Destiny has not come knocking at your door. It's come mauling you like a bear." (excerpt from Beth Moore's Esther study)
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." -- Jeremiah 29:11
God will not fulfill my destiny without me. There is a certain responsibility on my end. If I seek God, God's will for my life will find me. That about sums it up. Destiny. And still, I want to run away from it, but also toward it, all at the same time. It intrigues me. It scares me. It's what invades my sleep and whispers my name through the pages of His WORD. It's a package tied up with a bow ... too pretty to unwrap; too mysterious to leave inside. I can't. I won't. I must. I will. Destiny.

Beer for a Cause

Ever thought to yourself, "Boy, I really wish that drinking this beer could also help the world" ? Well, this Saturday, June 27th, The Bruery will be helping out in the Relay For Life by donating 50% of all draft sales to the American Cancer Society.
Our very own Benjamin Weiss has been participating in the Relay for a couple of years now and we are proud to support such a worthwhile cause.
If you can make it down to the Tasting Room on Saturday to enjoy a few pints, we'd love to see you there. Ben will be around and able to accept checks made out to the American Cancer Society if you feel like donating some more on your own and you can also donate by visiting Ben's online donation page here: http://main.acsevents.org/goto/benjaminweiss , there is also a printable form on that page for donation by check.
Old Hair New Hair
It was very versatile with my old hair which I had my stylist to cut it half fringe.
I can split it in half, quarter partition or even side way, pair it with curls and I have brand new style every day.
This is among my favourites.

sunlight on hair

wavy curl all the way

side shot with smile

fuwaa, the power of sunlight!

other side

fake smile

fake smile without sunlight

serious look

look elsewhere shot

pretend to look elsewhere
But two days ago I took the plunge and went and have my fringe cut all the way.
Introducing, my NEW HAIR.

peeking

removing camera

showing part of close up
Ok... moment of truth...
Like it or not. if you don't, well, you'll just have to wait another 4 months for it to grow back up then.

Teng teng teng!
Do I look younger?
Personally I hate it. I have to make up my eyes in order for it to look even a slight bit nicer, the bang made my eyes so dull on normal days!!!
and my mom and baby are being nice telling me that it looked nice.
such liars. T_T
They also say I look less fierce. T_T

Was I that fierce before?!

Huh? Was I???!

Still working on my summer groove...

Apologies to my friends who have checked in for a quick, easy, family-friendly meal idea and have found updates on this blog few and far between the past couple weeks. With school getting out, family coming into town for visits...and camp not ramping up until next week, I've found my free time in short supply. (Nevermind that I seem to emit some sort of subliminal message that says "come to mommy! insist on jumping in my lap! pound on my keyboard! in fact, just run off with my 'j' key for fun why don't you?" whenever I retreat to my office...)
I trust that none of you has been starving, and hope to be back in the groove of regular meal idea updates next week. Oh, and announcing the winner of the re-naming contest too! In the meantime, have a wonderful weekend celebrating the dads in your life!
60 mins Day Dreamer
I like to look at Google Earth, and pin point a random place as I scroll it around.

Then imagine myself sitting on the next flight to that random place on earth.
Sometimes I'll fly to Barcelona, Spain, the only western Europe country I have yet to visit; or Brazil, the only country in South America that doesn't speak Spanish.
There are times I'll scout around the globe looking for uncharted islands, or very places that are unknown to many, like the Chatham Islands off the southern ocean of New Zealand; or Papeete in the French Polynesia, or odd places with names that I can't even spell even with the help of a dictionary, like Tabuaeran.
I like to zoom in on places like Nepal, and imagine myself climbing the Himalayas, crossing the border into India, or from Blangadesh, meeting up travelers from other regions, going on boat/train/car rides with people I hardly know and newly met.
I'll look at those photos taken by photographers and saved down on Google Earth Map, where you usually can click and find out how beautiful a place is.

Croatia

A harbour town in Croatia
I like to zoom in to the "world" and check out the beaches of a particular I'm dreaming to visit.

And then by the end of the hour, I'll normally shut off Google Earth feeling a bit more satisfied and hungry for adventure, thinking that it'll probably take my another 10 years before I have the chance to visit this or that place I'm fantasizing.
What the heck. It was a good cure to a hungry soul. A hungry eager soul of mine.
