RIP David Mason

There's an obituary in the Telegraph today of that great English orchestral trumpeter David Mason.

He used to guest in the orchestras and bands I played in when I was a schoolboy. It was completely, unforgettably inspiring to have a musical presence of that magnitude in the seat behind you in an orchestra. It leaves an indelible memory on the mind's ear.
