American singer-songwriter producer Gene McDaniels died yesterday. His songs from the sixties will stay in the memory: “A Hundred Pounds of Clay,” “Tower of Strength,” “Point of No Return,” and, perhaps above all, “Compared to What,” truly immortalized by Les McCann and Eddie Harris .
