The picture above of the SF Jazz Collective is a complete red herring. It's just that the names (SE Collective, SF Jazz Collective are so similar, the one brought back a fond memory of the other. The much-missed Richard Turner did get SF Jazz Collective member Matt Penman down to the Con Cellar Bar.
Tangent over. , Here's wishing all the best to SE Collective, whose opening gigs at the Amersham Arms on New Cross Road, look well worth checking out. The venture starts tomorrow night with a double bill featuring the bands of BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist Shabaka Hutchings and of Alum Nathoo.

MAP TRIO ‘MAP TRIO brings together three of London’s most promising improvising musicians. Alam Nathoo has worked with the likes of Friendly Fires and Red Snapper and contributes original music alongside ‘Drummer for the future’ Peter Ibbetson. Their debut record is due in late 2011.
13th - TRISH CLOWES TANGENT
Tangent is Trish Clowes’ innovative group, which features on her debut album for Basho Records. Described as “ambitious, fresh and experimental “ by Julian Joseph, the music - all written by Clowes – takes inspiration from such greats as Wayne Shorter and Joe Lovano.
